Yep, they’re still making James Bond movies, even though they clearly don’t want to be anymore. There are so many little bits of this movie where they out-and-out say that they hate the things that’s made the franchise popular. Wacky gadgets aren’t cool anymore, they say; spies don’t make sense anymore because it’s not the cold war, they say. So just stop, man. Don’t bother on our account.
Bond is shot and thought to be dead, but it turns out he was just hanging out in Mexico and getting drunk with scorpions. He returns to service and M sends him after Javier Bardem, who was another agent left for dead years ago, and who has stolen a list of MI6’s undercover agents in the field. Bardem is captured but breaks out, and Bond has to hide M from his vengeance.
