The red carpet festivities for the new Billy Crystal/Bette Midler comedy are called off, following suit with Paramount’s "Jack Reacher."
Fox has canceled tonight’s planned premiere party and red carpet festivities for , its new comedy starring Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and Marisa Tomei, in respect to the victims and victims’ families of Friday’s mass-shooting at the Sandy Hook in Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
"In light of the horrific tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut we are canceling the red carpet press event and the after party for the premiere, scheduled today in downtown Los Angeles," a Fox spokesman said. "The hearts of all involved with this film go out to the victims, their families, their community, and our entire nation in mourning."
It is the second premiere-related announcement in as many days: Yesterday, Paramount announced that Saturday’s planned premiere in Pittsburgh for Tom Cruise starrer had been postponed.
