The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the wonder that was this film? I seriously didn’t expect it to be as fantastic as it was, and that’s saying something because I had really high hopes. Everything was beautifully done: special effects, music, casting, etc. I could find few things to complain about.

First off, I should note that I saw the film in HFR (that’s high frame rate) 3D. Although I hate 3D and I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about HFR, it didn’t bother me too much. I didn’t think it was necessary to see the film in 3D other than to admire Rivendell in all of its glory (though to be fair it would have been amazing and stunning regardless) but the HFR really added a different dimension and made the viewing experience, I think, really different.
