Soul Khan just makes it seem so easy. If you haven’t heard the Brooklyn MC before, then this is a good place to start. He is easily one of the best MC’s in New York right now, just waiting to blow up.
This EP is rhyme heavy, reminiscent of battle rap, like when an MC gets in his zone and tries to slaughter his opponent with rapidly rhymed syllables within bars. (Soul Khan used to battle). The difference between a Soul Khan release and other battle rappers’ music is that Soul Khan can stay on topic throughout a whole song, while most battle rappers just beat you to death with punchlines.
Case in point, the song “Morning Alone” is about a widow who strangely deals with the death of her husband, while “Rusted Ghosts” is about what some of SK’s tattoos mean and represent.
